DNA Extraction from Fruit:
Video sponsor www.etrafficpress.com
This video shows and a DNA extraction experiment from three different fruits. Bananas, strawberries, and kiwis are mashed up to allow the 10% soap solution (to collect lipids and proteins) and 10% tenderizer solution (to break protein away from the fruit's DNA). This solutions extract the fruit's nucleic acids. DNA lysate is filtered out and mixed with 95% ethyl alcohol. This mix causes DNA molecules to separate from the rest of the solution.
