This fun and informative video was directed, shot, and edited by Mark Nelson ( http://www.gringolandiastudio.com ) working as a TRT (Teacher Ranger Teacher) for the Petrified Forest National Park ( http://www.nps.gov/pefo/forkids/index.htm ) in Arizona. In this video, Mr. Nelson, the art teacher at Stone Academy ( http://www.stone.cps.k12.il.us/ ), an inner city Chicago Public School, has featured the Petrified Forest's National Park's resources and staff talent in a lighthearted story for kids of all ages. The lead character,"Junior" ( Darrell Woolf ) comes to the park with his mother and visits several landmarks, archeological sites, Triassic fossils as he attempts to earn his badge and certification as an official Junior Ranger. Filmed and edited in the summer of 2010, Mark was one of three school teachers on loan with the Office of Interpretation. The TRT program ( http://www.nps.gov/wupa/forteachers/trt.htm ) became national in 2008 offering teachers across 50 states an opportunity to learn about our national treasures, work as Park Rangers, and incorporate their experiences and knowledge gained over an 8 week summer paid residency into their upcoming school year.
