What happens after I upload a video?

An email is sent to our moderators that states that a new video has been uploaded and the video is put into queue in our screening room. Only our moderators have the ability to view the video at this point. Next your video is vetted by our publishers and checked for accuracy, relevancy, and suitability for the site. If it meets all our requirements it is then approved and posted on SchoolWAX TV™ for everyone to see.

Can I download videos onto my computer so I can view them later?

All media was designed to be viewed while you are online only. There are no download links to save videos onto your computer. You must be connected to the Internet to watch the videos.

What are the minimum requirements my computer must have in order to watch videos on SchoolWAX TV™?

For optimum viewing it is recommended that you have high speed Internet. The videos won't run as well on a slower connection.

What do I need to have to watch videos on SchoolWAX TV™?

You need to have a Windows or Macintosh computer with a high speed Internet connection and an Internet browser program (note: for optimum viewing on Internet Explorer version 7 or higher is recommended). To view videos on SchoolWAX TV™ you will need Flash player installed. We recommend having Flash player version 9 or higher so you can watch videos in full screen mode. Most computers will play Flash videos without any additional action required. If you do not have Flash, it should prompt you to download it the first time you click on a video.

Will I need any plugins to view the videos?

You should not need to download any plugins to view videos on SchoolWAX TV™, however if you have an older computer you may need to download Flash. If you don’t have Flash, you can download it for free here. We also recommend that you have JavaScript enabled to properly view our menu links. The site will still function if JavaScript is disabled, but some of the menu’s aesthetics will be lost.

Video Formats:

What format should my video be in before uploading it to SchoolWAX TV™?

SchoolWAX TV™ accepts multiple movie formats, but for optimum encoding, we recommend that you export it from your timeline into an .mp4 movie (.mpeg4).

If your video is larger than the maximum size of 100 MB, here are some suggestions to make it smaller:

• If you don’t mind lowering the quality of your video, try lowering your bit rate. If you’re using Windows Media you will need to lower the quality slider bar to make the file smaller.
• If you do not want to lower your video quality, try splitting your timeline into multiple smaller segments. If you export your video in small sections, you can upload the video in parts like a series (for example, "Angles in Circles – Part 1, Angles in Circles – Part 2, etc.).

Uploading Videos to SchoolWAX TV™:

How do I upload a video to SchoolWAX TV™?

1. Go to http://.schoolwaxtv.com.
2. In the upper right hand corner of the screen, click on the “Upload Video” link.
3. Click on the “Browse…” button and locate the video you want to upload on your computer. Select it and press “Open”.
4. Enter a title for your video.
5. Enter a description of your video. Feel free to use the allowed HTML tags listed below the text box. If no description is entered our moderators will create one for the video.
6. Press the “Submit” button to send your video to our moderators for review. It may take up to 5 minutes for the video to upload, depending on its size. Do not leave the web page until you receive the message stating that “the video has been uploaded successfully” or the upload will not work.
7. It may take up to 2 weeks for your video to display on the site, depending on the amount of videos waiting in the queue for our moderators. Only approved content will appear on the site.

Who can upload videos to SchoolWAX TV™??

Anyone can upload a video to SchoolWAX TV™?, but they must own the copyright to the video, as per our Terms of Use. All videos are reviewed by our moderators for instructional integrity, accuracy and content before appearing on the site.

In order to be as secure and safe as possible, only moderators can add or remove videos from public view on SchoolWAX TV™?. This way we can ensure that no inappropriate videos are posted to SchoolWAX TV™?. To have a video that you posted removed contact our moderators by using our Contact form.

What is RSS?

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is used to publish frequently updated works such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video in a standardized format. Subscribing to RSS Feeds (or Channels) allows you to receive timely updates from your favorite websites. A standardized XML file format allows the information to be published once and viewed by many different programs.

How do I access RSS Feeds?

Installing a news reader that displays RSS Feeds from the websites you specify allows you to keep up to date with content on your favorite websites. You can subscribe to a feed by entering the feed's link into the reader or by clicking an RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. When you check your news reader you will see updated content for all the websites that you have subscribed to. There are web-based and downloadable news readers available.
